Description

Love trails and hate invasive plants? Us too! Grab your people and adopt one of our trails for a month.

You can choose one of our 19 trail sections that range from .1 mile to .6 mile. You'll pick one day a week to come out to Audubon Acres and do maintenance on your trail. That's only 4 times, so it's not a huge commitment. During that time you will be weed-eating, moving limbs, cutting vines, Laying and spreading Mulch, and pulling the dreaded invasive privet. Don't worry, we'll provide all the tools for you!

Cabin Docent

CABIN DOCENT Are you passionate about history and eager to share your enthusiasm with others? We invite you to become a docent for our 1700s cabin exhibit and take visitors on a journey back in time to the early days of American settlement. About the Cabin: The original cabin was likely built by the Cherokee people during the mid 1700's and is representative of a typical Cherokee homestead during the early 1800's. The cabin was moved from its original location by the railroad, due to the railroad shaking the cabin. What We're Looking For: Enthusiasm for history and a desire to educate and engage visitors. Strong communication skills to convey the history and significance of the cabin. Willingness to learn and share information about the exhibit. A friendly and approachable demeanor. Availability for guided tours and a commitment to the docent schedule. (One Saturday a month, or we have a weekday option during the Summer months) What You'll Do: Lead guided tours of the 1700s cabin. Share historical facts and stories about the families that lived in the cabin. Answer visitor questions and provide insights into the cabin's construction, furnishings, and daily life. Ensure a welcoming and informative experience for all visitors. Training and Support: We provide training and resource materials to help you become comfortable in your role as a cabin docent. You'll have the opportunity to work with experienced docents and museum staff to ensure you are well-prepared to lead engaging tours.

Description
Participants will be laying and spreading mulch on one of our 19 trail sections. We provide the shovels, wheel barrel, rake, and gloves. For this project you are adopting to lay mulch along the trail section of your choice without having to do all the other maintenance along that trail. This is great for those that want to assist but are only able to assist with laying much and are not able to do all the other maintenance required.
